(29 October 2015). The Senior Librarian, Chinese and Asian Studies is an employee of the University of Melbourne, but will work across both the Parkville campus of Melbourne University and the Clayton campus of Monash University, usually 3 days and 2 days per week respectively.
The Senior Librarian, Chinese and Asian Studies provides expert advice to researchers and students in the Chinese and Asian studies areas, working across a range of disciplines and faculties. The role builds advanced liaison relationships and contributes actively to both the research and learning and teaching agendas of both universities. The incumbent must have fluency in the Chinese language and an in-depth understanding of Chinese culture, and constantly updated in-depth information management knowledge and skills. The position oversees collection development for Chinese Studies at both institutions, requiring experience in collection development.
The Senior Librarian, Chinese and Asian Studies reports to the University of Melbourne’s Arts Faculty Librarian and is principally located in the Arts team in the Baillieu Library.
