(16 March 2018) The position leads the Digital Library and Repositories group, a unit with approximately 17 FTE staff and a salary budget of over $1.5 million. The Director coordinates externally contracted services to the value of around $0.5 million annually, including externally funded eResearch projects, and operational funds for the maintenance of and upgrades to library applications in partnership with eSolutions.
The Director, Digital Libraries and Repositories is required to take a global view of trends in discovery, scholarly communication, publishing, as well as emerging technologies and digital experience. The Director works with staff across the Library to develop innovative approaches to the delivery of digital resources and services in support of the University’s teaching, learning and research, and the delivery of premium digital experiences for students and staff. The Director is responsible for the innovative development of the Library’s digital platforms and services including the website, library systems and applications, plus integrations with other Deakin systems including DeakinSync. The Director oversees the ongoing development of the University’s research repository (Deakin Research Online) and publications management system (Symplectic Elements).
