(6 February 2015) Four out of ten Nepali women will never visit a doctor during pregnancy. One in 200 will die in childbirth. In response to those staggering statistics, READ’s Jhuwani Community Library launched a prenatal health program using a mobile app to help save the lives of mothers and their infants. The app, designed by a Nepali computer engineer, allows health workers to track and support expectant mothers throughout each stage of pregnancy.
