(30 January 2017) OpenAthens has published a new white paper that discusses the complexities facing information professionals and publishers when ensuring the security of access and authentication processes.
Approaches to authentication: the importance of information security draws on experiences from across the information industry to highlight the key security issues around different authentication methods, and how SAML-based approaches can provide an improved user experience while keeping valuable data safe from unscrupulous actors.
Jon Bentley, Commercial Director for OpenAthens, said: “Information security is a very real concern for information professionals and publishers alike. Older authentication methods are beginning to show their limitations – not only in terms of security flaws, but also in keeping up with modern research workflows. SAML-based authentication is a major step forward that protects users and systems, and we’re proud to be at the forefront of helping publishers and organizations realise its benefits.”
