(4 January 2016) New library systems are being launched, which will deeply affect how libraries carry out their core procedures and tasks.
They include the upcoming cloud-based systems of the world‘s largest suppliers Ex Libris and OCLC, and Open Source systems under construction (e.g. Kuali OLE, KoHa).
Libraries in countries across Europe and the United Kingdom are moving to these new systems. LIBER is therefore planning a workshop to discuss challenges and opportunities related to these systems, and to examine how these systems will change libraries’ working methods. The workshop Next Generation Library Systems in Europe will be held on the morning of 29 June at LIBER’s Annual Conference in Helsinki.
