Selects Spydus as its core solution following global market review
(6 March 2018, Singapore and Melbourne) Civica, one of Australia’s leading suppliers of critical software applications, digital solutions and managed services that help transform the way organisations work, is pleased to announce the award of a multimillion-dollar contract from the National Library Board of Singapore to supply the Spydus library management solution and associated services for four years with an option to extend to eight years.
NLB, recognised as a leader in global library thinking, conducted an international market review of library system providers before signing up for the new contract with Civica and Spydus, acknowledging the system’s position as the leading cloud based offering in the marketplace. The contract to support the National Library, 26 public libraries and the National Archives of Singapore was first awarded to Civica in 2012.
NLB promotes reading, learning and information literacy by providing a trusted, accessible and globally-connected library and information service through the National Library and a comprehensive network of Public Libraries. By forging strategic partnerships to cultivate knowledge sharing, the libraries also encourage appreciation and awareness of Singapore’s history through their wide range of programmes and collection of Singapore and regional content.
Spydus10 is a cutting-edge, web-based integrated library management system (ILMS) that transforms libraries into digital community spaces where anyone can access, explore, share and create digital content. Spydus10’s single repository, discovery layer and simple search ensures searches are quick. The recommendations engine, a key feature of Spydus10, offers suggestions to patrons based on their unique profile making sure that they don’t waste time while searching for content. Civica’s investment in Spydus will continue into the future as the library community looks to adopt AI and machine learning techniques (amongst other technologies) to support innovative new services.
