(2 February 2015) The new MORE (Maney Online Research E-journal) Digital Archives include the back-file content of 80 journals and offer instant online access to a wealth of significant, historical research and scholarly excellence, much of which has been published by academic and professional societies.
Now available as a one-off purchase to higher education institutions, the Archives cover the humanities and social sciences, health sciences, and materials science and engineering, and include over 450,000 pages of content from internationally renowned journals such as International Materials Reviews, European Journal of Archaeology and International Journal of Occupational and Environmental Health.
The Archives make previously difficult-to-find content easily accessible to library users and they are clearly priced and available in a variety of options aimed to meet the needs of different libraries. Content is hosted on Maney Online and integrated with current journal content thus offering the same flexible and intuitive user interface, advanced browse and search capabilities, and enhanced administration and reporting tools.
Maney has a robust retro-digitisation programme in place and 60% of journals are fully archived, with more being digitised each year. Many societies can now offer their members access to a complete run of these journals in Maney Online. This is warmly welcomed by Maney’s customers including the Palestine Exploration Fund (PEF) whose Palestine Exploration Quarterly (PEQ) is the oldest journal in the Archives, providing readers with an historic resource that spans 137 years. Felicity Cobbing, Executive and Curator of the PEF says: “The digitisation of the complete back issues of PEQ and its predecessors provides a fantastic new resource that will enable wider access to this important publication, the oldest of its kind for the region. Researchers will undoubtedly benefit from this exciting development”.
