(26 May 2026) Library Technology Guides has released Library Perceptions 2026: Results of the nineteenth International Survey of Library Automation. The report presents findings from the annual survey of libraries regarding their experiences with their strategic library management products, discovery services, and their associated vendors.
The report analyzes responses from libraries worldwide and provides statistical results and commentary based on evaluations of integrated library systems (ILS), library services platforms (LSPs), discovery services, and related technologies. The survey explores library satisfaction with product functionality, management of print and electronic resources, quality of vendor support, customer loyalty, and migration intentions.
The 2026 report continues a longitudinal series that has documented library perspectives on automation products since 2007, offering one of the most extensive independent assessments of the library technology marketplace. This year’s 2,220 responses added to a cumulative data set now totaling 52,824 responses.
This survey provides libraries with a unique opportunity to share their experiences directly and to contribute to an evidence-based understanding of the library technology landscape. The long-term continuity of the survey enables meaningful analysis of trends in customer satisfaction, vendor performance, and technology adoption over time.
Key themes explored in the report include:
- Overall satisfaction with library technology products
- Ability of systems to manage print collections and workflows
- Electronic resource management capabilities
- Quality of vendor support and customer service
- Customer loyalty and product retention patterns
- Migration activity and interest in alternative platforms
- Comparative performance across library types and product categories
