The Hong Kong Baptist University Library now invites applications for a dynamic, collaborative, and results-driven professional to lead and inspire its User & Information Services Cluster. Reporting to the Deputy University Librarian, the appointee will manage all aspects of the Library’s information services and instructional programmes. Additionally, he/she will oversee the circulation services provided at the Main Library as well as the Library’s Interlibrary Loan service. He/She will also serve as the designated Liaison Librarian for a specific Faculty/School.
Proactive development of new and enhanced approaches to service that incorporate cutting-edge technologies will be vital to the success of the appointee. He/She must also be an effective and supportive leader for the professional and support staff under their supervision and be able to bring out the best in their team members. As a member of the Library’s senior management team, the successful candidate will also make significant contributions to the Library’s strategic initiatives.
Applicants must possess a Master of Library Science or equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate current knowledge of academic library resources, systems, services, and trends. They should have at least ten years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in academic libraries, of which five years should be at a supervisory level. The appointee must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and collaboratively with stakeholders within and outside of the Library. Excellent communication skills in English are required; additionally, proficiency in Chinese is highly desirable.
Reference salary range: HK$67,090 – HK$114,045.
Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
