(29 July 2103) The Indigenous Project Group has released community guidelines to assist library professionals in building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, reports National and State Libraries Australia.
The Indigenous project group has released Working with Community: Guidelines for collaborative practice between Libraries and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities.
Working with Community guide has been created to assist the library profession in building mutually beneficial relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, and to help library staff engaging with those communities as they seek to extend and enhance their services and collections.
The guidelines were written in line with the National Policy Framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Library Services and Collections.
