Digitisation of ASEAN library collections
(28 July 2014) The special topic of this newsletter of the Conference of Directors of National Libraries in Asia and Oceania is services for the handicapped. It includes papers from China, Japan and Korea. The table of contents with links to full text articles is here.
Also in this issue is a feature about digitization of library resources in Southeast Asia and bringing them together into repositories to be searched from a single point. The article by Khor Su Man, Lee Mei Chen and Andy Neale touches on the NLB proposal at the 2012 CONSAL Meeting to connect collections across the region; the USD40,000 funding from ASEAN to get this off the ground; a demonstration website presented at IFLA WLIC 2013; how the service works; the first round of training; how to participate, and more.
