(20 December 2013) Online access is now available to the descriptive Catalogue of Books Printed in the Fifteenth Century now in the Bodleian Library (Bod-Inc). The printed catalogue was published in 2005 by Oxford University Press. This online resource is accessible at: http://incunables.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/.
The project to produce the printed catalogue of 15th-century books in the Bodleian Libraries was conceived by Dr Kristian Jensen. The entries created during the original cataloguing project, between 1992 and 2005, were created to the same standard as catalogues of medieval manuscripts. The resulting descriptions were produced by a team of researchers under the direction first of Dr Jensen and then of Dr Alan Coates, and they provide a detailed analysis of the texts in each edition. They also provide information on the unique physical characteristics and ownership histories of individual copies in the Bodleian collections: Users may make full-text or field-limited searches to discover information on all the textual contents, provenance evidence, bindings, and manuscript additions.
