(1 Dec 2022) Mao Kolap, vice-president of Cambodian Librarian Associations, said yesterday that Cambodia requires more qualified librarians to match the standards of advanced libraries in other Asean countries.
According to a report by the Cambodian Library Association, there are only three graduated librarians, while there are 400 librarians in public schools, and about 200 in universities.
The encouragement to boost the number of librarians follows the 18th Conference of Southeast Asian Librarians, which was attended by experts from about 800 ASEAN member countries yesterday and the meeting is being held virtually.
