(18 January 2017) Reaffirming its focus on connecting the library with its community, bibliotheca announces today five brand new additions to its product catalogue, extending its range in self-service, Tattle-Tape™ EM security and Automated Materials Handling. These new products build on the single product line that the company announced in early 2016 – following the merger with 3M Library Systems – allowing libraries to further connect with their community, engage with their users and evolve their library service.
bibliotheca has a long and prestigious history in product innovation, which was built on as a result of the merger with 3M Library systems in 2015, which brought two distinct, leading product sets together. The products announced today are truly the first that embrace the values of the two former companies, to bring innovation, digital focus and reliability together.
selfCheck 500™, new mid-tier kiosk selfCheck 500™ will redefine what a mid-tier self-checkout kiosk should offer, encapsulating premium engineering into an package aimed firmly at the core library market. For libraries that want to offer the best possible experience to their users, this new design provides the quickest and most effective way to deliver self-service – making borrowing and returning items as simple as possible, whilst driving attendance to and awareness of library events and programs via the award-winning quickConnect™ platform.
New Tattle-Tape™ products Once again defining the benchmark for EM products in libraries, the new Tattle-Tape™ gate and hybrid selfCheck 1000™ are the culmination of five years of research and development, bringing 21st century aesthetics, class-leading checkout & security detection and extensive remote-configuration and diagnostic features together in a single package. These new products are the perfect upgrade for libraries of all sizes with aging equipment, being backwards compatible with all existing systems.
The new hybrid kiosk takes the very best in design and workflow optimisation and adds the powerful capabilities the quickConnect™ platform, genuine 3M Library Tattle-Tape™ activation and deactivation technology, featuring the familiar ‘V’ design, which has proven so effective in previous kiosk models, but adds a revolutionary portrait touchscreen, full payment options, optional return bins and the added capability of RFID to make it the most feature-rich Electromagnetic kiosk on the market today.
flex AMH™ bibliotheca has provided Automated Materials Handling solutions for over 15 years, but today sees a new focus within this transformational area of library workflow with a brand new overall design and, amongst other innovation, the integration of a mass separation module. flex AMH™ has been redesigned from the ground-up to offer the best possible experience for library users, with a brand new front-end, improved sorting speeds, class-leading reliability and the addition of vertical-stacking carts and a the bulk separator – that allows multiple items to be deposited in a single drop, rather than returning items one at a time. Additionally, libraries that need to handle items over multiple floors or buildings can now benefit from an extensive line-up of transportation options, designed to move items at speed over long and obtrusive distances.
Matt Bellamy, Chief Commercial Officer for bibliotheca, commenting on the release of this new product range, said “2016, our first year as the new bibliotheca, was extremely busy for us, as we brought together two diverse product sets into a single range. The news today shows that in achieving that, we haven’t stood still though, in fact we’ve been busier than ever! I genuinely believe that the products the company is releasing today are the best in the industry and we’re excited to get them into the hands of libraries around the world, as we continue to work together to help make libraries hubs of creativity and social interaction for their communities.”
In addition to the brand new product launches, bibliotheca announces some major additions to its cloudLibrary™ e-lending service, including: events management – allowing libraries to drive engagement and bring digital users into the library; embedded library barcodes – which turns the mobile device into a virtual library card and a brand new web reader – allowing anyone with a web browser to access their cloudLibrary™ account. With these new features, cloudLibrary™ continues to demonstrate its class-leading stance within the market.
