(6 July 2015) Today the Australian Government announced $1 million in funding for Australia’s nine national collecting institutions to develop and tour exhibitions across Australia, including to regional areas.
The National Museum of Australia, National Gallery of Australia, National Archives of Australia, National Portrait Gallery, Australian National Maritime Museum, National Film and Sound Archive, National Library of Australia, Museum of Australian Democracy and the Bundanon Trust will receive funding to support a total of 19 exhibitions through the Australian Government’s National Collecting Institutions Touring and Outreach Program.
The program promotes awareness of Australia’s rich cultural heritage and ensures that audiences across the country are able to enjoy national collections.
Funding will also support the development of new exhibitions such as the National Library of Australia’s Qing: Life in China, and facilitate community access to the National Museum of Australia’s Encounters exhibition.
