Want to build your professional network and learn about librarianship around the world? Love the idea of professional travel but just don’t have the budget? The International Librarians Network (ILN) is for you.
There is no doubt that innovation and inspiration can cross borders, and that building up our networks beyond our home countries can be an exciting and rewarding experience. Aimed at helping librarians develop international networks, the ILN is a facilitated peer mentoring program, meaning that participants will be asked to provide information which will be used to form partnership relationships with other participants from different countries. Participants can share their expertise and experience on library and information issues with other members through the network.
The ILN is run by volunteers all around the world and is open to anyone working in the library and information industry at no cost. The only requirements to participate are an Internet connection, fluent English skills, an hour each week and a desire to build professional connections and learn from colleagues. The more you engage in the ILN, the more you can get out of the program.
The next round of this popular program will commence in March 2014. Applications for the next round of partnerships have opened in January 2014 and will close at midnight on Thursday 20th of February 2014.
