(12 Jan 2026) The National Library of Korea is opening up its national bibliographic data, previously used only by experts, to the general public and private companies.
The National Library of Korea announced on the 12th that it will develop an OpenAPI service based on the National Bibliographic Linked Open Data (LOD) through the ‘2025 National Key Data Open Support Project’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and provide the data through the public data portal.
The National Bibliography is a systematically constructed database of publications and various knowledge information resources produced and distributed domestically. The newly released National Bibliography OpenAPI offers five types of data to meet diverse user needs. Specifically, these include bibliographic information on books, serials, and online resources; author information on individual and corporate authors; subject information based on the National Library of Korea Subject Headings (NLSH); library information related to libraries nationwide; and interlinking information supporting the linkage of domestic and international bibliographic, author, and subject data.
