(7 March 2016, Alexandria, VA and Chicago, IL) Alexander Street and Docuseek2 today announced a strategic partnership to develop new products and platforms, and expand the availability of the highest-quality documentary films for higher education.
Over the next six months, Docuseek2 will migrate to a new platform powered by Alexander Street, integrating the rich variety of tools developed by both companies. The new platform will offer users greater flexibility and improved discoverability, by allowing for The Docuseek2 Collection™ to be cross-searchable with Alexander Street’s existing offerings. The new platform will also improve learners’ productivity through a common interface and include important tools for clip-making, playlists, and citations. Docuseek2 users will benefit from an enhanced set of tools including JAWS compatibility, compatibility with major discovery services, COUNTER 4-compliant usage statistics, and more.
Docuseek2 provides exclusive educational streaming access to more than 800 films from Bullfrog Films®, Collective Eye Films, Icarus Films (including The Fanlight Collection and dGenerate Films), Kartemquin Films, KimStim, the National Film Board of Canada, and Terra Nova Films. Docuseek2 will continue to curate, expand, and publish its top quality collection of documentary films from its partner distributors, and to market and license its catalog.

“Partnering with Alexander Street will extend the reach of The Docuseek2 Collection™ to new markets and enable us to concentrate on building the best curated collection of streaming documentaries,” said Jim Davis, President of Docuseek. “The partnership will enable us to accelerate the delivery of many enhancements to our existing users, as well as simplify the administration chores for librarians. As before, Docuseek2 titles will remain exclusive to The Docuseek2 Collection™.”
“This puts one of the most important collections in documentary film on one of the largest, most functional and heavily used platforms in academic streaming video,” said Stephen Rhind-Tutt, President of Alexander Street. “We look forward to working with Docuseek2 to develop the platform further, create exciting new packages, and open up new possibilities for all our customers.”
