(8 December 2014) Today marks a milestone for Trove as it digitises its 15 millionth newspaper article. Titled For King and Country, the article first appeared in the December 8, 1917 edition of The St George Call, which was published weekly in Sydney’s Kogarah district from 1914 to 1924.
NSLA launched the Australian Newspaper Digitisation Project in 2008 to provide free access to text-searchable digitised Australian newspapers. The first digitised papers went online the following year and then became available through Trove.
Newspapers account for 80 per cent of visits to Trove, which is managed by the National Library of Australia.
