(8 November 2013) The University of Chicago Library invites applicants for the position of Japanese Studies Librarian. The East Asian Collection supports teaching and research needs of the faculty and students at the University of Chicago. It holds a collection of more than 800,000 volumes in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages of various formats. It also has a growing collection of electronic resources. The Japanese collection of over 230,000 physical volumes is particularly strong in literature, intellectual history, religion, art history, education, Japanese Sinology as well as significant holdings of academic journals and reproduced newspapers. As one of the finest such collections in the country, it serves not only the faculty and students of the University but also scholars throughout the country. The East Asian Collection is housed in the Joseph Regenstein Library.
