(4 August 2015) The Library invites applications for the position of Head of the Japanese Section in the Division of Special Collections. As the librarian in charge of Japanese material in the Library, the postholder will be one of four language specialists in the Asian, Near and Middle Eastern Group of the Library. S/he will be responsible for the development of the Japanese language collections to support all aspects of teaching, learning and research in the University, including the purchasing and cataloguing of new acquisitions in both printed and electronic form, and the management of existing collections, including rare printed and manuscript material. The postholder currently line-manages three part-time library assistants in the Japanese Section. An important part of the role is providing support to academic staff and students in the broad subject area of Japanese Studies and liaising with relevant members of the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.
