The 2014 International Digital Library Conference (IDLC) held in Kuala Lumpur 8-10 April 2014 was an opportunity for the national libraries of Malaysia and Taiwan to forge closer ties.
The theme of the conference was Preserving and Sharing Digital Resources through Co-operation and Collaboration. NCL’s Director-general Tseng was the keynote speaker, talking on “National Central Library’s Efforts to Archive, Manage, and Provide Services for Digital Resources in Taiwan.” She reported on the developmental history of NCL’s digital archives, methods of preserving digital content, innovations in digital services, the promotion of digitized ancient and rare works, and local and international plans to share resources.
The more than 300 conference attendees witnessed the signing of a cooperative agreement by Director-general Tseng and the National Library of Malaysia’s Director-general Dato’ Raslin Bin Abu Bakar, which will open doors for future long-term professional and scholarly cooperation between the two libraries.
