(27 Apr 2022) State Opera South Australia has this week launched a new digital library, the first dedicated library of Australian operas, as part of its continuing effort to preserve and protect the future of Australian works. The national online archive is a not for profit initiative and will host a collection of Australian operas staged by Australian companies.
“This is a significant extension of the company’s commitment to Australian Opera which has evolved out of our Lost Operas for Oz series announced in 2019. With this digital library, there is now a home dedicated for Australian Opera to come together so that it is accessible for everyone,” said Stuart Maunder, Artistic Director of State Opera South Australia.
The Australian Opera Digital Library includes State Opera South Australia’s productions of Cloudstreet (2016), Summer of the Seventeenth Doll (2020), Love Burns (2021), The Tell-Tale Heart (2021) Madeline Lee (2019), Christina’s World (2019), and Boojum!(2018).
The library can currently be accessed for free at aodl.com.au
