(9 Dec 2020) It is time now for the Library Association of Singapore to accept nominees for LAS awards:
LAS Awards are given out to:
- Recognise members who render outstanding service to the profession
- Promote professional growth
A list of current awards is listed below.
LAS Lifetime Contribution Award
The Award aims to honour a retiree who has significantly contributed to the development of the library profession in Singapore and who has represented Singapore on an international level. The recipient must have been actively involved in LAS over the span of his/her career and both length and level of service are considered. The nomination is by LAS Council.
Award: This award consists of a cheque of $3,000.
LAS Professional Service Award
The Award aims to recognise LAS members who demonstrate outstanding leadership and commitment to the library profession.
Award: The award consists of a cheque worth S$1,000.
LAS Passion Award
The Award aims to recognise one individual each year for outstanding contributions, commitment and service to the library profession.
Award: This award consists of a cheque of $500.
LAS Outstanding Newcomer Award
The Award aims to recognise the accomplishments of outstanding newcomers to the library profession upon the completion of the professional library qualification.
Award: The Award consists of a cheque of $200.
LAS Library School Scholarship
The Scholarship aims to support and encourage individuals to attain higher education in the library profession. It provides financial support to an individual for graduate study in a recognised school of library science, leading to an MLS, M.Sc. (Information Studies) or equivalent, who has the potential to have an exceptional career as a librarian.
Award: The sponsorship of S$5,000 is to partially cover tuition in a school of library and information science or the equivalent.
LAS-WLIC Grant
The purpose of the Grant is to provide LAS members with financial support and opportunities to learn and network. LAS believes that participation in conferences develops professional growth and strengthens our library community.
