ABOUT ELLSSA
Are you an emerging leader wanting to lead digital libraries? Or curious about latest trends in digital libraries? Do you enjoy learning in small groups, sharing best practices, case studies and library visits? The Emerging Library Leaders’ Summer School for Asia-Pacific (ELLSSA) is curated as a bespoke programme for selected participants across the Asia-Pacific. We welcome international librarians wanting to network with librarians from the Asia-Pacific region and learn more about trends and developments in academic libraries. The programme partner is SMU Academy, the professional training arm of Singapore Management University and the programme sponsor is Taylor and Francis.
WHAT ARE THE COURSE DATES?
The course dates will be Monday, 7th July to Friday, 11th July 2025. Participants are required to attend the compulsory onboarding session on Sunday, 6 July 2025.
WHAT ARE THE COURSE FEES?
The course fees are Singapore Dollars 1,200 (includes 9% GST). This covers full tuition fees, course material, meals listed in the programme and transport costs for library visits. It does not cover airfare, accommodation and other personal costs which are at your own expense.
WILL THERE BE ANY SCHOLARSHIPS?
Taylor and Francis, offers a limited number of competitive ‘Named Scholarships’ for Librarians from these selected ASEAN countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Each sponsorship covers tuition fees, course material, meals listed in the programme and transport costs for library visits. The sponsorship does not cover airfare, accommodation and other personal costs which are at your own expense.
WHAT IS THE CLASS SIZE?
This is a bespoke programme for only 20 participants. Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The programme is targeted at early to mid-career librarians and/ or librarians nominated by their institutions as having high potential.
WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES AND LEARNING OUTCOMES?
The objective of the programme is to share knowledge, provide insights and learn with other librarians on how to embrace the digital transformation of their libraries.
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
• Identify trends in the digital transformation of libraries
• Acquire skills in developing digital transformation strategies
• Develop an action plan to apply best practices within institutional contexts
• Participate in a mentoring programme
WHAT WILL BE THE INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS?
Instructional methods will include lectures, group work, case studies and discussions, debates, and library visits. Participants benefit from a mentoring programme where they will be assigned a mentor.
WHAT WILL BE THE LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION?
All lectures and communication will be in English. Participants should have proficiency with English and be comfortable to converse in it.
