(31 January 2014) The National Diet Library (NDL) launched the Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries in Japan on 21 January 2014.
This service will allow users in Japan to browse digitized materials at libraries authorized by the NDL. Targeted materials include about 1.31 million out-of-print items digitized by the NDL, including books, periodicals, and doctoral dissertations previously available only within the NDL premises.

In addition, as of January 21, 2014, the name NDL Digitized Contents has been changed to the National Diet Library Digital Collections.
Patrons can search materials available via the Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries in Japan from the redesigned NDL Digital Collections website. The targeted materials of this service are listed as “Available only at the NDL and partner libraries” in the search results.
