(29 January 2013) The National Diet Library will soon offer some of Japan’s most famous epics and tales online from 1 February with help from Kinokuniya Co. and the Dai Nippon Printing Co. group. This is the first time that the library has scanned its books and allowed private companies to turn them into e-books for delivery to readers. The eBook files will be offered free of charge by Kinokuniya at its online store. Among the 13 works is Heiji Monogatari, a Japanese war epic from medieval times believed to have been composed around the 13th century.
