(6 October 2017) The Medical Library of the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University Singapore is officially open on 28 August 2017 in conjunction with the School’s grand opening.
Crowning the 20th floor of the Clinical Sciences Building is the rooftop Medical Library which not only boasts an impressive collection of medical journals, textbooks and unique collections, but also a panoramic 360 degree view of the city skyline.
The Special Collections include the Singapore (SG) Doctors’ Collection made up of books written by local practitioners, the Medical Art Prints collection and the Children’s Health Collection, featuring children’s books that portray healthcare professionals in their storylines.
The Library is divided into four conceptual spaces – a quiet study area, collaboration space, café area and the Flexi-Space, a multi-purpose area that can be converted for workshops and other events. Between the Flexi-Space and Café area, there is an outdoor terrace accessible to all guests looking for a space with fresh air, some greenery and a scenic view of the Central Business District.
These many spaces are designed to flow and inter-mingle, enabling library users to fully engage with the physical spaces and their intellectual pursuits seamlessly. With no doors at the main entrance, the Medical Library is open to the LKCMedicine community all day, every day.
In addition to the library’s reference services, Medical Librarians offer Systematic Search Services to support the publishing of Systematic Reviews by LKCMedicine faculty and researchers. To visit the new medical library, please write to [email protected].
