National Central Library holds award ceremony for publishers depositing their publications
(6 March 2013) For the first time since its establishment 80 years ago, the National Central Library held at its lecture hall “Cultural Heritage, Leading Academia: National Central Library Holds Thanksgiving Tea Party”. It was attended by approximately 160 publishers and 60 college persons. Publishers expressed their gratitude for NCLs ISBN service and National News Book Information Monthly that assists book selection in libraries.
Representatives from colleges said students can now easily find materials when writing their theses. The National Central Library used its established National Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations in Taiwan to analyze the citations of degree papers in the 2011 academic year in Taiwan and rank them. The most three frequently cited national universities were National Taiwan Normal University, National Cheng Kung University and National Taiwan University. The most cited private universities were Chinese Culture University, Tamkang University, and Fu Jan Catholic University.
The ISBN Center according to its statistics found that 5,085 publishers published 42,305 new books in 2012.
