(5 September 2016) The Ministry of Education launched the Indo-Bhutan e-Library Project at Motithang Higher Secondary School in Thimphu, Bhutan, today. The digital library will have study materials, newspapers and journals in the form of text, video, and audio images.
Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, during his visit to Bhutan in 2014, had announced the proposal to establish e-library in 20 dzongkhags.
As part of the e-Library project, the Indian government will help the education ministry set up basic information and technology infrastructure in 49 schools and 12 colleges.
The project will also include setting up a data centre to store the library content at Thimphu Techpark. They will also establish a digital studio for creating digital content in the ministry.
