(30 August 2013) Illustrations of the Reports of General MacArthur have been added to the NDL Digitized Contents. They consist of maps, photographs and paintings from the Reports of General MacArthur. The original materials are owned by the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration. Five items (about 500 images) of digitized contents from the Illustrations are provided in the category of “Materials on the Allied Occupation of Japan,” which are available on the Internet. Some of the images can be viewed only on the NDL premises.
On 30 August 2013 about 3,800 books and 2,200 periodicals were added to the NDL Digitized Contents, available only within the facilities of the NDL. With these additions, the total number of digitized materials provided by the NDL now has reached 2.26 million, of which 470,000 items are available on the internet.
