(23 Jul 2026) IGI Global Scientific Publishing, dedicated to “Publishing Tomorrow’s Research Today” since 1988, recently launched its AI Assistant Research Tool, and has made it available through the IGI Global Scientific Publishing’s e-Book Collection. The tool is designed for academic libraries and the patrons they serve, allowing users to search, refine topics, and build research pathways within a trusted scholarly platform while keeping librarians in control of imperative usage data collection.
The AI Assistant Research Tool supports research discovery by helping users navigate trusted scholarly content through a guided, library-centered experience:
- Adapts to the researcher’s level of experience in performing research, accommodating both beginners and highly advanced researchers.
- Grounds results in peer-reviewed content from IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
- Searches within the library’s available IGI Global Scientific Publishing resources to connect users with accessible source materials.
- Guides researchers toward relevant books, chapters, and scholarly sources while discouraging requests to generate papers on their behalf.
- Directs users into actual content records, with a goal of helping libraries maintain content-click usage collection in alignment with new COUNTER reporting updates.
This tool extends the value of libraries’ investments in IGI Global Scientific Publishing’s e-Book Collection by pairing AI-powered assistance with the reliability of a curated scholarly research platform. Eligible e-Book Collection licensing models include Evidence-Based Acquisitions (EBA), Demand-Driven Acquisition (DDA), Perpetual, Subscription, and Read & Publish options. Hosted on the IGI Global Scientific Publishing platform, the AI Assistant Research Tool utilizes a siloed environment grounded in the publisher’s expansive collection of scholarly content across Business & Management; Science, Technology, & Medicine (STM); and Education & Social Sciences. Within this platform is the collection of 11,500+ books (220,000+ chapters), and nearly 200 fully open access journals, giving the tool a vast foundation for its AI-assisted discovery. Institutions also retain administrative control over the feature, allowing librarians to enable or disable the tool through their settings based on policies, user needs, and institutional AI guidelines.
