(18 November 2016) Just announced, Humanities Commons is designed to serve the unique needs of humanists as they engage in teaching and research that benefits the larger community. Unlike other social and academic networks, Humanities Commons is entirely open access, open source, and not-for-profit. It is focused on providing a space to discuss, share, and store cutting-edge research and innovative pedagogy—not on generating profits from users’ intellectual and personal data.
Humanities Commons is funded by a generous grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Recognizing the need for an online professional network for—and by—humanists, the Mellon Foundation supported the development of Commons sites for partner societies and the shared identity-management system that connects these sites and their users to a larger Humanities Commons network.
Humanities Commons is here.
