Hong Kong Baptist University Library now invites applications for a forward-thinking, innovative, and collaborative professional to lead the Library Systems team. Reporting to the University Librarian, the appointee will oversee the planning, management, and coordination of the Library’s information technology infrastructure and initiatives.
Supervising a team of four colleagues, the appointee will be responsible for maintaining the Library’s joint Integrated Library System and Discovery Platform, Ex Libris Alma & Primo; working closely with all groups within the Library to evaluate, plan, and implement Library IT; liaising with the university Information Technology Office to ensure that Library IT is compliant with ITO policies, protocols, and initiatives; and designing and conducting training workshops for Library staff and users on the use of new and enhanced IT systems. The incumbent is also expected to work occasional evening and weekend shifts at the Information Desk in the Main Library.
Applicants must hold a post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Library/Information Science and be able to demonstrate current knowledge of information technology in an academic setting. The successful candidate should have at least five years of post-degree experience with increasing managerial and supervisory responsibilities. The appointee should have knowledge of and/or experience in operations and work procedures throughout the Library. Excellent speaking and writing skills in English and Cantonese are essential, with preference given to some knowledge of Putonghua. Also essential are commitments to work with colleagues and effect change in a collegial manner, and to solve challenges with creativity and focus.
Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of 3 years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
