The Hong Kong Baptist University Library now seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional for the position of Assistant Librarian (Resource Management). Reporting to the Head of Resource Management, the successful candidate will have the following major responsibilities:
- Organise and manage library materials acquisitions and subscription renewals (both electronic and physical);
- Manage the day-to-day library materials budget and payment operations;
- Engage in a broad range of electronic resource management activities;
- Evaluate library donations and exchange with other libraries or partners; and
- Assist in supervising supporting staff in the Resource Management Cluster.
Applicants should have (i) a good university degree with a recognised professional qualification in library and information science (MLIS or equivalent); (ii) 2 years’ post-qualification and relevant experience in universities; (iii) acquisitions experience in an academic library setting; (iv) experience with acquisition modules of a large-scale automated library systems, preferably Ex Libris Alma; (v) strong written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese; (vi) collaborative attitude in working with colleagues within and outside the Library; and (vii) knowledge of collection management operations (e.g. deselection) will be highly desirable.
The Library may appoint the suitable candidate with a post title different from what they have applied for to suit its operational needs.
Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of 3 years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Post title and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
