Information Instruction Librarian (Job ID: 6089)
Reporting to the Head (Information Instruction & Collection Services), the appointee will give library instruction classes; create web-based research guides and e-learning objects; assist in planning and implementing information literacy teaching, learning, and assessment; conduct orientation activities and serve as a subject librarian for one of the Schools in the University; liaise with faculty of the assigned School on their instructional and research needs; and offer in-depth subject assistance to users.
The appointee is also expected to work closely with the Library’s Research Support Services team. His/Her duties include providing citation search service and research consultation (coaching) to research staff and students, and assisting in the Library’s Research Data service efforts. He/She will also work with other Library team members to develop and implement user engagement and general education activities as well as other Library functions and projects.
Applicants should have a master’s degree in library science (M.L.S.) or equivalent, in addition to a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a STEM major; and a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification (M.L.S. or equivalent) practical work experience in academic libraries. Applicants should also have knowledge of trends and developments in library services, assessment, and information, digital and data literacy teaching and learning; experience in providing user education; demonstrated good service attitude and skills; and excellent written and oral communications skills. The appointee should be highly motivated and proactive, and be able to multitask and work well in a team. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required, and knowledge of Chinese including spoken Cantonese and Putonghua is preferred. Experience and knowledge of trends and developments in libraries’ research and data services or digital scholarship will be advantageous. Shift duty that entails working on weekday evenings and at weekends may be required. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
