(12 January 2017) Five antique recordings of the national anthem and a hand-drawn map of Southeast Asia dating back nearly 250 years have been donated to the Myanmar National Library in Nay Pyi Taw.
The donation came from the Youth Force Group of Companies, which has already donated hundreds of historical artefacts to the museum.
The map was drawn by a French astronomer in 1771.
“This map is like a souvenir for our family,” said Youth Force director Daw Mya Mya Phyo. “It’s not that we don’t understand its value – it’s in great demand. But we always wanted to contribute to our national knowledge and experience. The map helps people compare the geography of the 18th century with that of the 21st century.”
The Myanmar Times has the story in full.
