(17 August 2018) Libraries are shaking off their dusty reputations with the National Library of Australia (NLA) deploying a new fleet of high-tech robots to assist staff.
Each automated guided vehicle (AGV) stands around 1.5 metres and features three shelves to cart books around the library’s sprawling basement.
A large proportion of the NLA’s collection is stored below ground and comprises century-old texts, maps, overseas material and other archives.
