(3 June 2013) Harvard recently joined DataCite, a not-for-profit organization that aims to establish easier access to research data on the internet, increase acceptance of research data as legitimate, citable contributions to the scholarly record and support data archiving that will permit results to be verified and repurposed for future study.
Other members of DataCite include the British Library, the German National Library of Science and Technology and the California Digital Library (CDL).
Additionally, the Library enrolled in EZID from the California Digital Library, an automated interface to DataCite for creating DOIs and providing flexible methods for posting associated metadata.
