(25 August 2015, Chennai, India) Noting that the duty of the government did not end with creating a state-of-the-art library, but to ensure that it was maintained properly and updated regularly, the Madras High Court on Monday directed the State government to maintain and upgrade the Anna Centenary Library, Chennai, according to the court’s directive.
The directive was in response to a petition that the RS 172 crore [USD25.9million] library set up in 2007 is no longer buying books, the airconditioning is turned off and several elevators are not working.
