The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Library, a leading research library in East Asia, is seeking an academic librarian to play a leading role in the development of the Library’s growing digital scholarship services based in our Digital Scholarship Lab.
Applicants should have (i) a good degree in any discipline, plus a postgraduate qualification in Librarianship and/or Information Science, or a related subject; (ii) a minimum of ten years’ relevant professional experience, including five years at a managerial level in a library; (iii) excellent interpersonal and communication skills; (iv) proven leadership capabilities, be forward-thinking and innovative with a strong service and collaborative orientation; (v) sound knowledge of current trends and best practices in digital and data services; (vi) demonstrated experience in a wide variety of platforms, applications, programming languages, institutional repositories and/or other digital asset management systems; and (vii) proficiency in Chinese and English.
As Head of Digital Scholarship Services, the appointee will (a) provide strategic direction and implementation of emerging services in all aspects related to digital humanities/scholarship, digitization projects, digital repository development, and supporting the use of digital methodologies in research; (b) establish productive relationship across the CUHK community, lead and manage a team of professionals and supporting staff, and (c) serve as a member of the Library’s Management Group, contributing to library-wide strategic direction, planning, and initiatives that advance the Library.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
