(11 May 2018) The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Library, a leading research library in East Asia, is seeking a senior academic librarian with the personal drive, track record and professional expertise to play a leading part in the development and implementation of the Library’s strategy to meet the present and future needs of the University.
As part of the senior management team, the successful candidate will contribute to the overall strategic direction and management of the Library, as well as developing and delivering library strategy, policy and services for a specific division within the Library, to be determined to some degree on the expertise and interests of the successful candidate. Applicants should have (i) a postgraduate qualification in librarianship or information science, or equivalent; (ii) substantial, at least ten years’, recent experience of working at a senior level in a research library; (iii) excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team leadership and change management experience; (iv) proven ability to work collaboratively with and influence senior academics and managers; (v) experience of managing multiple, complex projects; (vi) strong understanding of contemporary changes in research libraries and key developments in research, learning and teaching within higher education; (vii) evidence of applying strategic thinking, vision and analytical skills to achieve measurable, high quality operational outcomes; and (viii) proficiency in both English and Chinese.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years, renewable subject to mutual agreement. The University reserves the right to fill the post by invitation.
