(18 Feb 2025) From the student perspective, having instant access has become the norm, with streaming platforms and digital media services promising unlimited access to a breadth of content. It can be challenging for libraries to keep pace with student demand, while also ensuring that their collections remain well-rounded with a variety of publishers and disciplines represented.
ProQuest, part of Clarivate, is leading the way in addressing these trends and needs with the launch of ProQuest Ebooks. With over 700,000 titles, ProQuest Ebooks offers the world’s largest subscription of high-quality, multidisciplinary scholarly ebooks, available on the award-winning Ebook Central platform. With ProQuest Ebooks, libraries can ensure simple, cost-effective, and uninterrupted access to valuable content essential for students’ academic success and learning.
ProQuest Ebooks supports a new subscription-based access strategy for Clarivate, which aims to break down barriers through broad and affordable access to highly curated, trusted academic resources. As part of this transformative strategy and following changes in demand from libraries, Clarivate will phase out one-time perpetual purchases of print books and ebooks on Ebook Central. The OASIS marketplace will close at the end of 2025. The Rialto marketplace will remain with publisher-direct ebook platforms and will expand to offer enhanced collection development capabilities and workflows.
