On August 25th, 2017, IGI Global hosted a complimentary educational seminar entitled “The Changing Nature of Knowledge Dissemination and Management” during the 24th Beijing International Book Fair at the China International Exhibition Center. As a co-organizer, iGroup China participated in the preparation and operation of the seminar. The main lecturer of the seminar is Dr. Mehdi Khosrow-Pour.
Mehdi Khosrow-Pour, D.B.A. received his Doctorate in Business Administration from the Nova Southeastern University (Florida, USA). Dr. Khosrow-Pour taught undergraduate and graduate information system courses at the Pennsylvania State University – Harrisburg for 20 years. He is currently Executive Editor at IGI Global.
The seminar set its focus on the following issues in publishing:
1. How the academic community ensures the credibility of scholarly and scientific knowledge;
2. How knowledge is disseminated to the world;
3. How Open Access resources, publishers and technology change the way research is conducted;
4. In particular, how predatory publishing damages the industry.
The seminar was well celebrated, and the audience enjoyed a heated discussion among the lecturers, Prof. Tang Mincong from Beijing Jiaotong University and Dr. Talia Raphaely.
