(17 November 2016) The Malaysian Digest asks what lies ahead for libraries now that books can be compressed into small devices. Expert opinions were sought about how Malaysian libraries are coping with changes in reading habits.
Libraries in and around Kuala Lumpur were visited and the views of librarians about what motivates their patrons to spend time in a library were discussed. Have libraries become quiet spots where students do their homework? Do they remain centres of learning? Or is something else happening in Malaysia’s libraries?
