(21 Jul 2020) The Documentation Centre of Cambodia (DC-Cam) has named its library the Queen Mother’s Library in honour of Her Majesty the Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk.
Recently, Ambassador Dr. Julio Jeldres, former Private Secretary and Official Biographer to his Late Majesty, the King Father Norodom Sihanouk, donated his entire collection of documents and books to DC-Cam’s library. In recognition of this invaluable contribution and to honour the lifelong commitment of Her Majesty the Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk to Cambodia, DC-Cam with her consent has named the library in her honour, said DC-Cam in a news release.
According to the release, in addition to Ambassador Jeldres’ collection, the Queen Mother’s Library houses many historical documents, books and other materials on the Cambodian genocide and human rights. DC-Cam is overseeing the expanding collection. The library will be an important resource to students and academics, operating as an institute open to the public to advance awareness of Cambodian history, culture and contemporary arts.
