(29 September 2014) Boopsie kicks off its international expansion plans by partnering with the largest reseller of digital services to academic libraries in the Asia Pacific region. iGroup, headquartered in Hong Kong, has over 900 field sales representatives worldwide and serves over 2,000 academic institutions and libraries. This partnership strengthens Boopsie’s commitment to empowering libraries worldwide to deliver more services to their communities, and creates strong local ties with libraries in Asia.
“Our Smart Search™ technology supports all left-to-right languages and our AccessILS™ service integrates with all major international ILS’,” says Boopsie CEO, Tony Medrano. “We recently built internal channel sales and marketing organizations to support rapid international expansion into academic libraries. The track record, strong in-country relationships, and hands-on approach of the leaders at iGroup provide Boopsie with a large leveraged sales force precisely at the right time to scale.”
Library-branded mobile apps are increasingly being seen as an alternative to vendor-branded mobile apps because they support the library-to-user relationship and increase the use of in-library services as well as digital services like eBooks. A recent statewide survey conducted by a state agency of over 500 library-branded app users concluded that 91% of Boopsie’s library-branded app users in that state visit the library in person and that 89% search the libraries physical catalog of books with their library’s mobile app.
“Boopsie is the worldwide leader in making libraries more accessible and supporting the library-user relationship by enabling both digital and in-library services available,” says iGroup’s Director of Product Management, Sung Tinnie. “Each of the thousands of libraries we serve has different needs and different communities. Boopsie’s solution allows the library to remain at the center of its community by combining the unique catalog and digital services of a particular library into an easy to use library-branded app that students all over the world love and use repeatedly.”
