(27 March 2014) The ANU Library is participating in a trial that will see power saving software, Greentrac, installed on PC’s in the Chifley Library. Greentrac will switch the PCs on and off just before the library opens and when it closes.
About Greentrac: Greentrac measures the energy consumption and the expensive idle times for PCs plus the paper requirement of all network printers in real time. On demand, additional consumption devices such as air conditioning systems can be integrated.
The data is gathered from every PC and aggregated and processed centrally. Greentrac then automatically creates comprehensive company-wide and individual consumption statistics. To visualise the energy usage, carbon footprint and print paper consumption, Greentrac uses charts and graphs.
