Academic Librarian 4, Sustainable Academic Libraries: Now and Beyond, 2-3 June 2016, Hong Kong, is open for registration.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Library and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Library will jointly host this two-day conference on 2-3 June 2016. AL4 addresses the multi-dimensional issues of sustainability pertaining to academic libraries.
The conference has four themes:
Theme 1 – Sustainable Environment
This theme highlights the eco-friendliness of academic libraries. Possible topics may include green buildings, green programs or national and international environmental standards.
Theme 2 – Sustainable Resources
With finite human and financial resources, academic libraries have to reconcile the conflicts between growth and sustainability. How can libraries propel sustainable growth with sustainable resources?
Theme 3 – Sustainable Technologies
Green information technologies reduce ecological footprint while improving efficiency and experiences for users and staff. Hot topics include virtualization and cloud computing, shared integrated library system, and mobile applications.
Theme 4 – Sustainable Services
