17 March 2015) Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs opened a “Media Geijutsu Database” (Media Fine Arts Database) website on Tuesday to chronicle works of manga, animation, and games. The website is Japanese only.
The site has data on about 250 thousand manga volumes and 80 thousand magazines, ranging from the early Meiji Era to January 2015. The anime section has around 9000 titles, including OVAs, ranging from 1917 to September 2014.
The game section has information on around 35 thousand titles. These include home console games published in or before September 2014, arcade games that launched between 1972 and 2013, and PC games.
The site also lists around 10 thousand media arts events and exhibits held between 1951 and 2014.
Agency for Cultural Affairs began gathering data for the site in 2010.
